I was going to steal KR's song — she sent it to me the other day and I really liked it — but then I decided not to do that and rather give her full props for the song in the mix.
Also, I really like the grooves on that Frusciante song.
Chase, I once referenced "Turn, Turn, Turn" in a short story I wrote and submitted for publication. One of the characters in the story (intentionally, by me) mis-attributed the song to The Turtles.
The story was awful and didn't deserve to be read by anyone, but on my rejection letter, the editor wrote something to the affect of "'Turn, Turn, Turn'-I believe this was by The Byrds."
Insult to injury.
As 1960s jangle pop goes, the Turtles are vastly underrated. Originality is not their strength -- they mostly recorded songs written by other people, including some which were rejected by the Byrds and similar bands. But I enjoy them at least as much as the Byrds or Zombies or similar artists from that period.
